A team from the East Guwahati Police District, specifically from Basistha Police Station, successfully dismantled a significant car fraud racket led by the mastermind Rupjyoti Das. The accused posed as a Cluster Head of HSBC Bank, renting multiple vehicles under the pretense of official bank use and subsequently selling them fraudulently as bank-auctioned assets to third parties. Police have recovered four such vehicles: a Grand i10 Nios, a Maruti Fronx, a Mahindra Scorpio, and a Maruti Suzuki Brezza, which were found at various locations in Assam and Naharlagun, Arunachal Pradesh.
