Coriander futures prices upgrade on demand

New Delhi: Coriander prices on Thursday rose by Rs 178 to Rs 7,708 per quintal in futures trade as speculators increased their positions following a firm trend in the spot market. At the NCDEX, coriander contracts for October delivery rose by Rs 178, or 2.31 per cent, to Rs 7,708 per quintal with a turnover of 11,600 lots. Market analysts said coriander prices rose on a firm trend in the spot market and restricted supplies from producing regions.

Tribal body protests non-tribals contesting ST-reserved seats in BTC polls

The BTR Tribal Sangha Coordination Committee strongly opposed non-tribal candidates running in Scheduled Tribe (ST)-reserved seats in the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) elections on Wednesday. The committee's head, Niranjan Brahma, told reporters at Kokrajhar's Bodo Sahitya Sabha Bhavan that non-tribal candidates had been running for seats that were designated for STs by getting ST certificates fraudulently.
