Avik Chatterjee takes charge as CEO of Speciality Restaurants, eyes new formats and Mumbai expansion

Speciality Restaurants Limited has elevated Avik Chatterjee as Chief Executive Officer, effective from the first quarter of FY27. Chatterjee, who previously served as Executive Director – Innovation & New Formats, will oversee the company’s portfolio of brands and restaurant operations across India and international markets. A second-generation entrepreneur, Chatterjee has been closely associated with the company’s flagship Mainland China brand, founded by his father and Chairman & Managing Director Anjanmoy Chatterjee. In his new role, he will focus on strengthening existing brands, expanding into new markets, developing new concepts and improving operational efficiency.

The company’s portfolio includes Mainland China, Oh! Calcutta, Asia Kitchen by Mainland China, Sigree, Hoppipola, Episode One, Sweet Bengal, Gong and Walters Burger, among other formats.Chatterjee said the company will place greater emphasis on cloud kitchens, smaller-format outlets and concepts aligned with changing consumer dining habits. He also outlined plans to add 12-15 new Walters outlets in Mumbai over the next three quarters, supported by a cloud kitchen to expand delivery reach.

Kolkata remains strategically important for Speciality Restaurants given its strong association with brands such as Mainland China and Oh! Calcutta. The company’s continued focus on established brands alongside newer formats could help strengthen its presence in the city’s evolving organised dining market.
