The final electoral roll released after the Special Revision (SR) in Assam has revealed mixed district-wise trends, with voter numbers rising in several Muslim-majority districts while most tribal-dominated and upper Assam districts recorded a fall compared to the draft roll. Several vehicles were caught in the sudden collapse of a bridge at Anipur market under the Ramkrishnanagar constituency in Sribhumi district on Wednesday, leaving two persons seriously injured and triggering panic in the area. The final electoral roll for the state has been officially published following the Special Revision (SR 2026), a senior election official announced on Tuesday. Earlier, the integrated draft electoral roll was released on December 27, 2025. Prior to that, a statewide door-to-door verification drive was conducted from November 22 to December 20, 2025. The period for filing claims and objections remained open from December 27, 2025, to January 22, 2026.
