In the run-up to Assam Assembly polls, unidentified miscreants hurled a grenade at the residence of BJP's Sarupathar candidate and incumbent MLA Biswajit Phukan at Changpool in Golaghat district today.However, a major disaster was averted as the grenade failed to explode. A six-year-old girl was allegedly killed by her father inside a train at Silanibari station in Assam’s Lakhimpur district on March 3, officials said. The incident occurred around 9:15 am inside a general coach of the Dekargaon–Murkongselek Express. According to a Northeast Frontier Railway spokesperson, the accused has been arrested.
