Tata Motors, in partnership with the NGO Sumant Moolgaokar Development Foundation (SMDF), has successfully implemented the Amrutdhara initiative in the water-stressed rural belt of Ranikhet and Almora, providing portable drinking water to over 23,000 people over the past 13 years, despite only half of the population having access to safe drinking water, despite the world's largest community-led groundwater management programme, Atal Bhujal Yojana.
