Byatikram’s Medical Tourism Conclave bridges borders

Byatikram MASDO’s ‘Medical Tourism Conclave’ unfolded a tapestry of human connections and shared journeys on Sunday, April 21st, at the Dhaka Club. Beyond the sterile confines of hospitals and the boundaries of nations, this gathering illuminated the stories of individuals whose lives have been touched by the power of healthcare collaboration between Eastern India and Bangladesh.

The conclave saw the esteemed presence of Md. Shahriar Alam, Hon’ble MP, Former State Minister, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Government of Bangladesh; Samshul Arefin, Chairman Bangladesh Foundation for Regional Studies and Coordinator, Friends of Bangladesh; and Dr. Rita Chowdhury, Eminent Indian Poet and Novelist, Dr. Shah Mohammad Tanvir Monsur, Director General, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Govt. of Bangladesh alongside other distinguished Doctors, Surgeons, and Healthcare Administrators from both the nations.

Mr. Shahriar Alam, MP, Former State Minister, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Govt. of Bangladesh, emphasized the growing Bangladesh-India health sector ties, highlighting the potential for substantial savings in foreign exchange and enhanced healthcare accessibility, partnerships aligning with the visions of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Major (Retd) Shamsul Arefin, Chairman of the Bangladesh Foundation for Regional Studies and Coordinator of Friends of Bangladesh, underscored the importance of continued cooperation between Bangladesh and India, particularly in the health sector, for the holistic well-being of their people. He expressed optimism that the conclave would serve as a catalyst in fostering such collaboration.

Dr. Mamun Al Mahtab, Head of the Interventional Hepatology Division at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Medical University, urged patients from India to seek advanced medical care in Bangladesh, citing the country’s poised healthcare sector development. Dr. Mahtab anticipates significant response and hopes for cooperation at future conclaves.

Dr. Rita Chowdhury, Eminent Writer and Sahitya Akademi Awardee, lauded Bangladesh’s growing reputation in healthcare excellence, showcasing the synergy between literature and medicine on a global stage.

Mr. Sombrata Roy, Unit Head, CK Birla Hospitals, CMRI Kolkata, shared his institution’s latest developments and achievements, expressing dedication to delivering exceptional healthcare services and commitment to patient well-being.

Dr. Sukalyan Purkayastha, Head of Interventional Neuroradiology & Endovascular Therapy, Jeevan Jyoti Healthcare & Research Centre Pvt Ltd, Silchar expressed excitement about exploring the convergence of medical excellence and tourism, aiming to promote Bangladesh as a destination for cutting-edge medical procedures.

Mr. Arijit Ghosh, Senior General Manager, Operations & New Business Initiatives, Techno India Group, Kolkata highlighted the platform’s role in fostering collaboration to enhance healthcare accessibility and quality across borders.

Mr. Anup Bhakta, AGM, Peerless Hospital also expressed his views on the potential of Medical Tourism in the Eastern region of India.
