CK Birla Hospitals, CMRI, in partnership with the Government of Assam, organised an exclusive Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme on renal transplantation in Guwahati, reflecting growing emphasis on public-private collaboration to strengthen specialised healthcare capacity in Northeast India.
Held at Vivanta Hotel under the theme *”Advancing Renal Care through Collaboration, Innovation & Expertise,”* the programme brought together nephrologists, urologists, transplant surgeons, physicians and healthcare professionals to deliberate on the latest innovations and global best practices in kidney transplantation. The scientific programme commenced with an introductory session by Dr. Sombrata Roy, Unit Head, CK Birla Hospitals, CMRI, followed by presentations from Dr. ForqanBabuShaikh on robotic renal transplantation and Dr. Aziz MD Atikul Islam on retro nephrectomy and contemporary surgical techniques.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Roy said continuous medical education and collaboration among clinicians are essential to strengthening transplant care and improving patient outcomes across Assam and the Northeast.
From a policy perspective, the initiative aligns with broader efforts to build regional healthcare capabilities by promoting knowledge transfer, clinical skill development and adoption of advanced medical technologies. With more than five decades of clinical excellence, CK Birla Hospitals, CMRI said the programme reflects its commitment to supporting the healthcare ecosystem through academic engagement and multidisciplinary collaboration. The CME concluded with a networking session and dinner, enabling healthcare professionals to exchange ideas and build partnerships aimed at enhancing renal healthcare services across the Northeast.
