AM/NS India, BITS Pilani celebrate first MBA batch in manufacturing management

ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India) has marked a major milestone in its capability-building journey with the graduation of the inaugural batch of its MBA in Manufacturing Management programme, developed in partnership with BITS Pilani. The convocation ceremony was held at AM/NS India’s flagship Hazira plant on Thursday and was attended by Surat Police Commissioner Anupam Singh Gahlaut as the chief guest. The programme builds on the success of the company’s B.Techprogramme in Process Engineering and reflects its continued focus on developing a future-ready workforce through Work Integrated Learning Programmes (WILP).

The customised MBA programme was designed to address the challenges of modern steel manufacturing by combining management disciplines such as supply chain optimisation, strategic finance and organisational leadership with specialised modules on digital transformation, sustainable manufacturing and data-driven decision-making. Employees completed the course while continuing to perform their professional responsibilities through a flexible learning model. According to the company, graduates from key divisions, including Steelmaking and Digital Technology, have already delivered measurable business impact through capstone projects aimed at improving operational efficiency and addressing production bottlenecks. Congratulating the graduates, Gahlaut said their achievement reflected discipline and commitment, while encouraging them to contribute towards the vision of a “Viksit Bharat” by 2047.

AshutoshTelang, Director and VP – HR & Administration at AM/NS India, said continuous learning remains central to the company’s strategy of building leadership capability and driving innovation. Prof. S Gurunarayanan of BITS Pilani said the partnership demonstrates the value of integrating academic excellence with industry practices to prepare leaders for a rapidly evolving industrial landscape. In Kolkata, the initiative highlights a growing trend among large manufacturing companies to invest in advanced workforce development and leadership training. Industry observers believe such programmes could strengthen talent capabilities across eastern India’s industrial and steel ecosystem, supporting productivity, innovation and long-term sectoral growth.
