Yamaha launches Aerox E electric scooter at Rs 2.81 lakh in India

India Yamaha Motor (IYM) Pvt. Ltd. on Wednesday launched the Aerox E, its premium high-performance electric scooter developed in India, at an introductory price of Rs 2.81 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The scooter will be sold through Yamaha Blue Square Showrooms in select cities and is available in a single Bluish White Cocktail colour option. The launch marks another step in Yamaha’s strategy to strengthen its electric vehicle portfolio and cater to the growing demand for premium urban mobility solutions.

Built on Yamaha’s Maxi Sports DNA, the Aerox E is powered by a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) producing 9.4 kW peak power and 48 Nm of torque. The scooter offers a certified riding range of 117 km and a top speed of 95.5 km/h. It features Eco, Standard and Power ride modes, along with a Boost function for quicker acceleration and a reverse mode for easier parking. The scooter is equipped with dual removable 1.5 kWh batteries, each requiring around 3 hours and 10 minutes for charging, and backed by a three-year or 30,000 km warranty.

The Aerox E also comes with a Traction Control System (TCS), front and rear disc brakes with single-channel ABS, a 5-inch TFT display with turn-by-turn navigation, Y-Connect smartphone integration, a smart key system and an externally mounted charging port. Yamaha said the scooter has been locally developed and manufactured to support India’s expanding EV ecosystem while offering premium styling and everyday practicality.

The launch to strengthen Yamaha’s position in the premium electric two-wheeler segment in Kolkata, where demand for feature-rich EVs is steadily rising amid increasing fuel costs and improving charging infrastructure. The Aerox E’s long range, removable battery system and performance-oriented features are likely to attract urban professionals and premium scooter buyers looking for an alternative to conventional petrol-powered models, intensifying competition in the city’s fast-growing electric mobility market.
