Turkish Airlines reshuffles leadership, appoints new chairman and CEO

Turkish Airlines has announced a major overhaul of its executive leadership, appointing Prof. Murat Şeker as Chairman of the Board and Ahmet Olmuştur as Chief Executive Officer, in a move aimed at strengthening its global aviation leadership. Prof. Şeker, who previously served as Chief Financial Officer, brings extensive experience in finance, investor relations, and international economic policy. With academic credentials from Marmara University, Sabancı University, and the University of Minnesota, he has also worked with the World Bank and held senior roles at Ziraat Bank. He has been associated with Turkish Airlines’ board since 2021 and currently chairs a financial advisory council under International Air Transport Association.

Ahmet Olmuştur, who rises from Chief Commercial Officer to CEO, has built his career within the airline since joining its call centre in 2000. He has led key functions including revenue management, pricing, sales, and marketing, playing a crucial role in expanding the airline’s global network and customer experience initiatives.

The leadership transition comes as Turkish Airlines looks to reinforce its position as the airline flying to the most countries worldwide, focusing on sustainable growth and passenger-centric services. In Kolkata, the restructuring is expected to enhance Turkish Airlines’ competitiveness in eastern India. With rising outbound travel demand from Kolkata to Europe and North America, improved leadership strategy could strengthen connectivity, pricing competitiveness, and customer engagement in this key regional market.
