The North East BPO Promotion Scheme (NEBPS) by the Government of India envisages to set up BPO/ITES operations in cities of North Eastern States to create employment opportunities for local youths. As a part of this initiative, S10 Healthcare Solutions Pvt. Ltd, a leading healthcare services company has setup a BPO/ITES centre at Shillong, Meghalaya under NEBPS.
S10 Healthcare Solutions had been allocated 100 seats to setup BPO/ITES centre at Shillong under NEBPS, which started operations in 2018. The NEBPS scheme was notified by the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY) under the Digital India Programme. Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) is the executing agency of the scheme.
S10 Healthcare Solutions’ Shillong centre provides services such as the Medical Scribe Services and Healthcare Analyst services for US-based healthcare professionals. In a span of less than three years, the centre now employs more than 100 local people where a significant share of employees are women. The right motivation and support from NEBPS along with massive talent pool of the region has aided in the expansion plan of S10 Healthcare Solutions’ operations into the North East.
Through this centre, S10 Healthcare Solutions has also embarked on a social initiative wherein it is providing free soft skills and personality development training to rural youth in villages of Meghalaya and surrounding regions. Titled S10Empower, the initiative encompasses Communication Skills, Personality Development, Public Speaking, Listening Skills, Email Etiquette, Leadership Skills, Interview Skills, Anger Management, Entrepreneurship, Career Development, Public Relations, Social Mission and Socio-Economic Mission. It focuses on rural women and offers placement opportunities for promising trainees for employment with S10. So far, more than 200 people have been trained under the programme. Bolstered by an enthusiastic response, the company is now eyeing expansion into other cities in the North-Eastern states such as Guwahati, Imphal and many more.

The objective of the scheme is to foster an IT ecosystem in North East through the establishment of BPO/ITES operations in the region. The scheme provides financial assistance of up to 50% of the total admissible expenditure (Capital / Operational), with an upper ceiling of Rs. 1 lakh per BPO/ITES seat. There are certain special incentives in the scheme to promote employment to women and specially-enabled persons, the participation of local entrepreneurs, training incentive etc.
