Tata Motors rolls out 10 lakh CVs from Lucknow plant, flags green mobility push

Tata Motors Ltd. on Tuesday achieved a major milestone with the rollout of its 10th lakh commercial vehicle from its Lucknow facility, marking over 35 years of operations in Uttar Pradesh. The milestone vehicle, a zero-emission electric bus, signals the company’s push towards cleaner mobility, aligned with India’s net-zero ambitions. The vehicle was flagged off by Yogi Adityanath along with N. Chandrasekaran, in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak and Tata Motors MD & CEO Girish Wagh. Adityanath said the achievement reflects Uttar Pradesh’s industrial potential and its vision of becoming a $1 trillion economy.

Established in 1992, the Lucknow plant spans 600 acres and produces trucks and buses across multiple powertrains, including electric and fuel-cell vehicles. With an annual capacity of over one lakh units, the facility supports over 8,000 livelihoods and operates as a water-positive plant powered entirely by renewable energy. It also drives skill development through programmes such as Kaushalya, Lakshya and Saksham.

In Kolkata, the milestone is expected to strengthen the supply of modern commercial vehicles, particularly electric buses, supporting urban transport upgrades and logistics efficiency in eastern India. Industry observers note that increased availability of cleaner fleets could accelerate adoption among fleet operators in the Kolkata region.
