Tata Motors commercial vehicle sales jump 49% YoY to 44,411 units in August

Tata Motors Limited reported a 49% year-on-year increase in total commercial vehicle sales at 44,411 units in August 2026, compared with 29,863 units in the corresponding month last year, supported by growth in both domestic and international markets.Domestic commercial vehicle sales rose 33% to 36,619 units from 27,481 units a year earlier. High commercial vehicle (HCV) truck sales increased 42% to 10,612 units, while intermediate and light commercial vehicle (ILMCV) truck sales rose 20% to 6,859 units. Passenger carrier sales grew 31% to 4,701 units, while small commercial vehicle cargo and pickup sales climbed 34% to 14,447 units.

International business recorded a sharp 227% year-on-year increase to 7,792 units from 2,382 units in August 2025.In Kolkata, the strong domestic performance points to sustained demand for commercial vehicles, particularly across freight movement, logistics, last-mile delivery and passenger transportation. The rise in HCV and SCV/pickup sales could support demand in eastern India as business activity and goods movement remain key drivers for commercial mobility.

Domestic MH&ICV sales rose 31% to 17,531 units, while domestic and international MH&ICV sales increased 29% to 18,920 units during the month.
