CUET Compulsory for UG admissions to central universities: UGC

All central universities will have to admit students to undergraduate courses based totally on the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) and not Class 12 marks, the University Grants Commission (UGC) stated Monday. This rule will come into effect from the upcoming session (2022-23) year. UGC chairperson M. Jagadesh Kumar said it will be obligatory for the 45 central universities to adopt CUET for admission to their undergraduate courses. UGC submitted the statement to Bombay High Court in response to an appeal made in the court challenging Maharashtra government’s decision to cancel the exam. University Grants Commission (UGC) said to Bombay High Court on Friday that the state governments do not have the authority to cancel university exams, reports NDTV. The Commission said that all universities are obligated to conduct the final year/semester exams before September 30.
