The Sikkim government plans to adopt the odd-even traffic rule in the Gangtok municipal area from November 5 to combat congestion, authorities said on Saturday. The system allows odd-numbered vehicles to operate on odd dates, whereas even-numbered vehicles can operate on even dates from 9.30 a.m. to noon and 3.30 p.m. to 6 p.m. An exemption period would be in effect from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m., they noted. The regulation applies to Gangtok's municipal limits, specifically the National Highway between Mayfair Fatak and GICI, but excludes feeder roads.
