DGP Gyanendra Pratap Singh made the firm decision to stop all rat-hole mining operations in Assam within the following seven days. Singh announced the Chief Minister's directive to stop illicit mining in the Margherita, Ledo, and Lekhapani areas of Assam's Tinsukia district at a press conference that followed a security review meeting in Dibrugarh.
