An elephant youngster, estimated to be five to six months old, became stuck in a pit on section 28 of the Sonajuli Dholakua tea estate in Rangapara, Assam. The incident occurred early on November 12th, when a herd of approximately 50 elephants was traveling through the estate on their normal search for food. According to the witness, after numerous attempts, the calf's mother was unable to extricate her young one from the small pit.
