Siliguri Municipality was quick to clean the Mahananda river after Chhath Puja. After Bihar, Chhath Puja is celebrated in Siliguri on the largest scale. Thousands of devotees throng the Mahananda river for Chhath Puja. Also, the Chhath Vrats make artificial ghats on the banks of the Mahananda river with banana trees, flowers, and other materials. As soon as the process of puja is over, the devotees leave everything in the river.
