Reliance Jio adds more customers than Airtel in February

Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Jio has added more mobile phone customers than Bharti Airtel in February 2021, bucking a trend of losing to the Sunil Bharti Mittal-led telco for six straight months. Jio gained 4.26 million wireless subscribers compared with Airtel’s 3.73 million in February, data released by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) on Tuesday shows. In the month of January, Jio had added 1.9 million users while Airtel had added 5.8 million users. Bharti Airtel has announced an agreement with Reliance Jio Infocomm to transfer the 'Right to Use' of Airtel's 800 MHz spectrum in Andhra Pradesh (3.75 MHz), Delhi (1.25 MHz) and Mumbai (2.50 MHz) to Jio. In a statement Airtel said, this agreement is subjected to statutory approvals.Through this agreement, Airtel will receive a consideration of Rs 1,037.6 crore from Jio for the proposed transfer.
