ICMR notified Corona Virus will stay forever

The Corona virus will not get easily,after a while, just like influenza, and vulnerable populations may have to take the vaccine shot annually. On friday , Head, Division of Epidemiology and Communicable Diseases, ICMR, Covid-19, is expected to gradually become an endemic. According to Head Division of Epidemiology Centre Samiran Panda said 100 years ago the influenza changed as pandemic. There should minor changes in the vaccine formulations simultaneously. Experiments at the ICMR have proved that the vaccines presently available in India are effective against the new Covid variants as well. However, the efficacy may differ for different strains.

India recorded 91,702 new Covid cases as 3,403 people succumbed to the virus in last 24 hours, according to data released by the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry on Friday. India records over 92K Covid cases, 2,219 deaths in 24 hrs

India on Wednesday logged 92,596 new Covid infections in 24 hours, less than one lakh cases for the second straight day and 6,098 cases more than Tuesday, the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry said. ICMR Bolsters ‘mid-August’ Covid Vaccine

The Indian Council of Medical Research has shortlisted 12 institutes, including one from Odisha, for human clinical trial of the India’s first COVID-19 vaccine. ICMR has developed the indigenous BBV152 COVID vaccine in partnership with Bharat Biotech International Limited (BBIL). The apex body selected 12 institutes to fast track clinical trials of the vaccine which is one of the top priority projects monitored by the Central government. "The vaccine is derived from a strain of SARS-CoV-2 isolated by ICMR-National Institute of Virology, Pune. ICMR and BBIL are jointly working for the pre-clinical as well as clinical development of this vaccine," an official said.
