Due to increasing COVID-19 cases in Mumbai, on monday the civic body decided to shut down the schools of all mediums for classes 1 to 9 and also for class 11 till January 31. The BMC said, students of classes 10 and 12 are excluded from this decision which means they can attend schools in-person. Classes for students of 1 to 9 and 11 will continue in online mode as directed earlier, it said. BCCI president Sourav Ganguly, has tested positive with COVID-19 on December 26. Ganguly had a minor fever on Sunday (December 26) and got the covid positive report on Monday evening, Ganguly was admitted to Woodlands Hospital shortly after his COVID-positive report came in, after undergoing treatment for a cardiac issue earlier this year. According to family sources, the hospitalisation was merely a precaution and there was no reason to be concerned. India logs 7,992 new Covid cases, 393 deaths

In the past 24 hours, India registered 7,992 new coronavirus cases and 393 deaths, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said on Saturday. The new fatalities have increased the overall death toll to 4,75,128. The recovery of 9,265 patients in the same period has increased the cumulative tally to 3,41,14,331. Delhi detected 51 fresh cases of Covid-19 out of 50,023 tests conducted throughout the national capital, according to the latest health bulletin issued by the Delhi government.
