Three people were detained on charges of killing two wild elephants in separate occasions in the Kulsi and Singra forest ranges of the Kamrup (West) forest divisions. The instances occurred in paddy fields, where wild elephants had ventured out in quest of food. The forest department officials stated that both elephant deaths were due to electrocution. One of the cases occurred in the Dhangargaon village of the Kulsi range, where forest department officials apprehended one Bhagirath Rabha.
