Sikkim State Rural Livelihood Mission (SRLM), under the Rural Development Department, has initiated a sub-project of the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) titled Micro Enterprise Development (MED). Under the guidance of the Secretary, Rural Development Department, Anil Raj Rai, the State Rural Livelihood Mission (SRLM) convened a meeting on Wednesday with the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE), Guwahati.
The meeting focused on the implementation of the MED project in the regions of Chumbong, Jorthang, Daramdin and Namchi. The primary objective of the meeting was to deliberate on the project framework and strategise its effective implementation. It was observed that the initiative holds significant potential to bring positive transformation among rural Self-Help Group (SHG) members by promoting sustainable livelihoods and supporting the vision of creating “Lakhpati Didis”. The meeting proved to be highly productive and the Secretary, Rural Development Department, expressed appreciation for the efforts and commitment demonstrated by IIE Guwahati. As a step forward, the official work order for project implementation was formally handed over to Ratul Kumar Das, Project Head from IIE Guwahati, marking the commencement of this impactful initiative.
