The All Idu Mishmi Youth Association (AIMYA), a Lower Dibang Valley district-based organisation, joined the ongoing protest against the proposed Siang Upper Multipurpose Project (SUMP) on Tuesday, with a large number of people participating in a peaceful solidarity rally in Roing.
The rally was organised by AIMYA to express solidarity with those opposing the project and to raise concerns over the detention of advocate Ebo Mili and others in connection with the SUMP issue.
During the demonstration, participants demanded the immediate release of Mili and the other detained persons. The association said the developments surrounding the project should be addressed through appropriate legal and democratic means.
AIMYA conveyed its concern over the ongoing situation and called for a peaceful approach to resolving the issue. The association also stressed the need to respect democratic processes while addressing the concerns raised in connection with the proposed project.
The organisation further warned that if Mili and the others were not released at the earliest, it would launch further democratic movements.
The rally witnessed participation from a large number of local residents, reflecting the association’s support for the ongoing protest against the SUMP.
