Opposition Rallies in Guwahati as Assam Awaits Election Results

With just a week left for the advertisement of election results, all opposition campaigners from 126 assembly constituencies in Assam gathered in Guwahati on Sunday night. The meeting, organized by the Congress at Green Wood Hotel, brought together campaigners from the Congress, Assam Jatiya Parishad, Raijor Dal, AHPCL, and Left parties, along with their leadership. The event was described as a concinnity action by the Congress to keep opposition campaigners aligned ahead of the results. still, Assam Pradesh Congress Committee chairman Gaurav Gogoi avoided opining on seat protrusions, stating that the election outgrowth was not the focus. He emphasized rather a broader vision of erecting a “New Assam” through development and concinnity.

Gogoi contended that the ruling government under Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had damaged Assam’s social harmony, frugality, and culture. He said the opposition’s thing is to rebuild and strengthen the state. He also claimed that choosers who preliminarily supported the BJP and its abettors had shifted their support toward the opposition in this election. Raijor Dal chairman and MLA Akhil Gogoi expressed confidence that the opposition would form the coming government, claiming a possible concerted palm of 70 – 80 seats, while the NDA may be limited to 30 – 40 seats.

Assam Jatiya Parishad chairman Lurinjyoti Gogoi also made strong claims, saying he’d win from Khowang constituency and prognosticating defeats for several ruling party campaigners. He indicted the state leadership of authoritarian governance and said the opposition concentrated on crucial issues similar as severance, land rights, development, and protection of indigenous identity. As political pressures rise, all sides are awaiting the election results, which are anticipated to determine the unborn political direction of the state.
