Nissan posts 118% domestic sales growth in May, marks third straight month of gains

Nissan Motor India Pvt. Ltd. (NMIPL) reported a strong performance in May 2026, registering a 118 per cent year-on-year increase in domestic wholesales as the company continued its growth momentum in the Indian market. The company said domestic wholesales stood at 2,948 units during the month, while exports reached 5,023 units. Total wholesales for May were recorded at 7,971 units. The latest figures mark Nissan India’s third consecutive month of year-on-year domestic sales growth.

Commenting on the performance, Saurabh Vatsa, Managing Director of Nissan Motor India, said the sustained growth reflects increasing customer trust in the brand. He attributed the performance to the positive response received by the All-New Nissan GRAVITE and the continued popularity of the Nissan Magnite, including its CNG variants. “Our third consecutive month of year-on-year domestic sales growth is an encouraging reflection of the trust customers continue to place in Nissan,” Vatsa said. He added that the company remains focused on expanding its network footprint, improving accessibility and enhancing customer experience across the country.

Nissan is also preparing for the world premiere of the Nissan TEKTON, which the company described as an important milestone in its India growth strategy and product expansion plans.

In Guwahati, the growing demand for compact SUVs and fuel-efficient vehicles has been supporting customer interest in brands such as Nissan. Industry observers believe models like the Magnite and the newly launched GRAVITE could attract buyers in the Northeast region, where demand for affordable and feature-rich SUVs continues to remain strong. Nissan Motor India currently serves domestic and export markets across 65 international destinations and achieved 1.2 million cumulative vehicle exports in 2025, strengthening its position among India’s leading automobile exporters.
