Maruti Suzuki India has introduced the new Baleno premium hatchback with a refreshed design, Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) and segment-first ventilated front seats, as the company looks to strengthen its presence in the premium hatchback market. Bookings for the new Baleno are open at Rs 11,000, with prices starting at Rs 6.09 lakh (ex-showroom, Bengaluru). The new model features an updated NEXWave grille, sculpted front bumper, chrome-finished fender garnish and NEXTre LED DRLs. It is offered in seven colour options, including the new Enigmatic Teal shade. Safety upgrades include radar- and camera-based Level 2 ADAS with functions such as advanced emergency braking, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, high-beam assist and forward collision warning. The car also gets six airbags, ESP, ABS with EBD and tyre pressure monitoring.
The cabin gets ventilated front seats with leatherette upholstery, a Clarion premium sound system, wireless smartphone charging, a 9-inch SmartPlay Pro+ infotainment system, 360-degree camera and head-up display. The Z12E 1.2-litre petrol engine produces 61 kW and 112.4 Nm, with 5-speed manual and AGS options. Fuel efficiency is rated at 23.80 km/l for MT and 24.77 km/l for AGS. The new Baleno could appeal to urban buyers in Kolkata seeking a feature-rich premium hatchback, particularly with the addition of ADAS, enhanced comfort features and improved fuel efficiency. The CNG variant, offering 33.61 km/kg, could also attract efficiency-conscious customers in the city.
