Natgrid Integration: Assam Departments Directed To Identify, Map Databases

Assam chief secretary Ravi Kota on Friday directed all concerned government departments to identify and map databases under their respective jurisdictions for integration with National Intelligence Grid (NATGRID) in accordance with prescribed protocols and technical requirements.
NATGRID, an attached office under the Ministry of Home Affairs approved by the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS), serves as a secure intelligence-sharing platform to strengthen national and internal security, including counter-terror efforts.
Kota also stressed the need for timely inter-departmental coordination and close cooperation with technical agencies for API (application programming interface) development, connectivity and other integration-related processes.
The directive came after the chief secretary attended a video conference, chaired by the Union home secretary, with chief secretaries and advisors to administrators of states and Union Territories, alongside the DGP, Assam, regarding the implementation and integration of NATGRID.
The meeting reviewed the integration of State and UT-level databases with NATGRID and discussed the inclusion of relevant databases such as Smart City data, utility billing records, land and property registration records, crime and offences databases, licensing records, education-related databases and beneficiary-oriented scheme databases for seamless and secure data sharing.
The meeting further noted the growing usage of the NATGRID platform by states and UTs and ongoing capacity-building initiatives for police and enforcement officials across the country.
Senior officials of concerned departments were present during the meeting.
