Linked to Cross-Border Terror Network! STF Arrests Nalbari’s Mrigen in Changsari

The Special Task Force (STF) of Assam Police achieved a significant breakthrough in its ongoing crackdown against anti-national elements operating from across the border. The security team arrested a youth for allegedly maintaining secret links with a Pakistan-based terrorist network. The youth, identified as Mrigen Haloi from Belshar in Nalbari district, was apprehended from a rented house in Gauripur, Changsari in Kamrup district.

According to information, the youth had been staying in Changsari on the pretext of working at the Sagar Steel Processing and Manufacturing Unit in Amingaon. According to senior STF officials, Mrigen Haloi was in regular contact with a network operated by Shahzad Bhatti, an operative of Pakistan-based terrorist activities.

With the arrest of the accused, the number of people detained in the operation against this Pakistan-linked network has risen to five. Earlier, based on information about links with the terrorist network, the STF had detained four suspected persons from Dhubri, Chirang, Barpeta and Hailakandi. Police have continued further investigation to unearth the extent to which this network has spread its roots in Assam and what sabotage plans it has been hatching.
