KPC Medical College commissions 100 kWp solar power plant in Kolkata

KPC Medical College & Hospital in Jadavpur has commissioned a 100 kWp solar power plant at one of its units, describing it as the first such installation among private medical colleges in Kolkata.

The plant was inaugurated by Jadavpur MLA Sarbori Mukherjee and Dr Santipada (S.P.) Gon Chaudhuri, former managing director of the West Bengal Renewable Energy Development Agency (WBREDA) and a Green Oscar awardee.

Debabrata Dutta, CEO of KPC Medical College, said the investment is expected to pay for itself in approximately three years. The facility is projected to generate electricity cost savings for another 25 to 30 years thereafter.

The solar plant was designed and installed by Innovel Energy Services Pvt. Ltd., formerly known as Bhaskar Solar. Its CEO, Partha P. Chatterjee, said the company prioritises quality in the design, engineering and construction of solar installations. He expressed confidence that the project would deliver reliable, long-term performance and encourage other healthcare and educational institutions to adopt solar energy.

Those present at the inauguration included Krishna Das, secretary of KPC Medical College and Hospital Society, and Sapna Dutta of KPC Group.

Established in 2006, KPC Medical College & Hospital is affiliated with the West Bengal University of Health Sciences and is the first private medical college in West Bengal. Innovel Energy Services, founded in 2002, has completed more than 250,000 installations.
