KAI India, the Indian subsidiary of Japanese kitchen and beauty tools brand KAI, has introduced its Shun Sora Santoku Knife as a premium kitchen tool aimed at making festive cooking and everyday food preparation more convenient. Priced at ₹14,000, the knife is handcrafted in Seki City, Japan, and is available through KAI India’s online platform and other leading e-commerce channels.
Designed for slicing, dicing and mincing vegetables, fruits, meat and other ingredients, the Santoku knife features hollow-ground indentations that help reduce food sticking to the blade. Its composite construction combines a VG10 high-performance cutting core with a Japanese 420J stainless steel upper layer. The blade is hand-sharpened to a 16-degree angle, while its polymer blend handle is designed for a secure and comfortable grip.
“Festive cooking brings increased activity into the kitchen, and having the right knife can make the process more convenient,” said Chandan Biswal, Head of Marketing and E-commerce, KAI India.
In Kolkata, the product comes as premium kitchenware demand continues to gain visibility among urban consumers seeking specialised, durable and precision-focused cooking tools, particularly during the festive season.
KAI said each Shun knife involves at least 100 manufacturing steps, combining traditional Japanese craftsmanship with modern technology. Founded in Seki in 1908, KAI also operates a 30,000-square-metre manufacturing facility in Neemrana, Rajasthan, serving the Indian market.
