The Indian Navy, in association with TVS Motor Company, has flagged off the 14-day ‘Fleet to Forts’ motorcycle expedition from Kohli Stadium, Navynagar, Mumbai, with a 25-member contingent set to cover more than 1,600 km across Maharashtra on TVS Ronin motorcycles.
Led by Capt Shekhar Deshpande, the contingent comprises officers, sailors and Agniveers, including women officers and women Agniveers, as well as ladies from the naval community, highlighting the Navy’s focus on Nari Shakti. The expedition will cover 10 historic forts associated with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, including sites recently inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List under the ‘Maratha Military Landscapes of India’ nomination.
The expedition also aims to engage young people and create awareness about career opportunities in the Indian Navy, particularly the Agnipath Scheme, the government’s short-term recruitment programme for personnel below officer rank in the Armed Forces.
V Adm Rahul Vilas Gokhale, Chief of Staff, Western Naval Command, said the expedition reflects the Navy’s spirit of adventure, exploration and outreach, while the forts serve as reminders of vision, courage, organisation and resilience.
In Guwahati, the expedition could add visibility to the TVS Ronin’s positioning in the premium motorcycle segment, particularly among young consumers seeking lifestyle-oriented motorcycles and long-distance riding experiences. TVS Motor said the partnership aims to take stories of exploration and heritage to young Indians.
Mr Vimal Sumbly, Head, Business – Premium, TVS Motor Company, said the company was proud to continue its association with the Indian Navy through the expedition, describing the journey as a celebration of valour, resilience and exploration.
