A community development endeavor received a grand inauguration in Chitwan, Nepal, backed by financial assistance from India. The Apron Dhungre Khola River Training Work Project, a testament to the enduring friendship between the two nations, was officially unveiled on Friday. Avinash Kumar Singh, First Secretary at the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu, led the inaugural ceremony.
Constructed under the banner of ‘Nepal-India Development Cooperation,’ the project bears a tender cost of Nepalese INR 3.67 crore. The endeavor, situated in Khairahani Municipality, Chitwan, was jointly inaugurated by Avinash Kumar Singh and Shashi Kumar, Mayor of Khairahani Municipality, signaling a collaborative effort between the governments of India and Nepal.
This initiative, categorized as a High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP), underscores the robust development partnership shared by the neighboring countries. Mayor Shashi Kumar lauded the unwavering support extended by the Indian government, emphasizing its pivotal role in uplifting Nepali communities across priority sectors.The project, funded by the Government of India, focuses on river training activities in Chitwan, addressing crucial challenges such as agricultural land erosion and flood mitigation. It aims to enhance resilience against natural calamities while fostering sustainable development in the region.
