IIT Bombay Educational Outreach has launched an e-Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence (CS & AI), aimed at professionals and graduates seeking deeper expertise in computer science and emerging AI technologies. Designed and delivered by IIT Bombay faculty with Great Learning as the EdTech partner, the one-year programme combines online synchronous and asynchronous learning with an in-person campus immersion at IIT Bombay. Learners can also complete the programme within three years, offering flexibility to working professionals.
The curriculum is divided into Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning baskets. Students must complete six courses, with at least two courses from each basket. AI topics include Generative AI, Large Language Models, AI Agents, RAG, MCP, Reinforcement Learning, Computer Vision, NLP and Deep Learning. Computer Science courses cover Algorithms and Complexity, Blockchain, Web and Software Security, Cryptography and Network Security, and Big Data System Internals.
Prof. Vinay J. Ribeiro, Faculty Coordinator, said the programme would help learners understand AI and computer science at a foundational level rather than simply use AI tools. The programme targets software developers, engineers, IT professionals, data scientists and fresh graduates with basic computer science knowledge. Successful learners will receive IIT Bombay e-alumni status. In Kolkata, the programme could appeal to the city’s growing pool of IT professionals, software developers and technology graduates seeking to upgrade their skills in AI and machine learning while continuing their careers.
