The Institution of Engineering and Technology has announced the launch of the 10th edition of the IET India Scholarship Award, with the total prize pool doubled from ₹10 lakh to ₹20 lakh. Applications for the nationwide engineering scholarship programme opened on May 19 and will remain open until June 15, 2026. The scholarship is aimed at full-time undergraduate engineering students studying in AICTE and UGC-approved institutions across India. Eligible students from any year and engineering specialisation can apply if they have secured a minimum aggregate of 60 per cent marks or a CGPA of 6.0 with all credits cleared. The organisers said there is no age limit or application fee for applicants.
Over the last decade, the scholarship programme has recognised students using engineering and technology to address real-world challenges in areas such as healthcare accessibility, sustainable agriculture, waste management and assistive technology. Several past participants have later secured opportunities with organisations including Apple, Google, NASA and Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Prof. Abhijit Chakrabarti, Chairman of the IET India Scholarship Award Advisory Committee, said the initiative encourages students to apply engineering principles to solve practical societal challenges through innovation.
The four-stage selection process includes an online application, national-level online test, regional presentation rounds and a national finale in Bengaluru. In Kolkata, the increased prize pool is expected to generate higher interest among engineering students from eastern India, particularly those seeking national-level recognition and industry exposure in emerging technology sectors.
