HPCL tightens vigilance network as LPG distribution surges nationwide

State-run Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) has strengthened its vigilance and monitoring framework across the country as demand for LPG and fuel supplies continues to rise, the company said on Thursday. According to HPCL, the company delivered 362 lakh LPG cylinders nationwide between April 1 and April 29, 2026, including 12.7 lakh cylinders on April 29 alone. To support the large-scale distribution network, HPCL dispatched 2,16,507 tankers during the period, including 9,522 tankers in a single day.

The company also reported sales of 12,02,694 KL of Motor Spirit (petrol) and 20,78,756 KL of High-Speed Diesel during the same period, indicating stable fuel supply operations across segments. As part of its vigilance drive, HPCL conducted 6,217 inspections across its LPG distribution network between March 14 and April 29 to ensure compliance with operational and safety standards. The company initiated 173 actions against distributors, including 34 suspensions, over alleged irregularities.

HPCL said 664 raids were carried out across different regions, leading to the registration of 44 FIRs and seizure of 4,155 LPG cylinders in cases linked to diversion, hoarding and unauthorized sale. The company added that 99.3 per cent of LPG bookings are now being made online, improving transparency and real-time tracking in the supply chain. HPCL also recorded sales of 7,68,892 units of 5 kg cylinders and 26,916 units of 2 kg cylinders aimed at supporting low-income households and migrant workers.
