The strategically significant Andaman and Nicobar Islands (ANIs), which are located to the southeast of India at the confluence of the Gulf of Bengal and the Andaman Sea, have been dormant for many years. It changed when China began acting in a drastic manner close to the border regions. In 2023, New Delhi is well along the way towards constructing a naval station to stave off its longtime adversary.
The Indian Ocean Region (IOR) policy of New Delhi places a great deal of importance on the 572 Islands that make up the ANIs, which span 450 nautical miles and have a total of 24 ports.
