Hero MotoCorp has announced a cumulative investment of more than Rs 3,200 crore in Andhra Pradesh, including over Rs 750 crore for setting up its second Global Parts Centre (GPC) in Tirupati, as the two-wheeler maker looks to strengthen its manufacturing, logistics and electric mobility capabilities. The foundation stone for the new facility was laid on Wednesday in the presence of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Hero MotoCorp Executive Chairman Dr. Pawan Munjal. The investment is aimed at transforming Tirupati into a global manufacturing and electric mobility hub while reinforcing the company’s domestic and international supply chain operations.
The upcoming Global Parts Centre will serve as a strategic hub for Hero MotoCorp’s spare parts business across India and overseas markets. The company said its entire electric vehicle portfolio is designed, engineered and manufactured at its Tirupati plant, where annual production capacity is expected to increase to between 1.2 million and 1.5 million units. The expansion is projected to generate around 4,000 employment opportunities, supporting both the Centre’s Viksit Bharat 2047 vision and the Andhra Pradesh government’s SwarnAndhra initiative.
Marking the occasion, the company also launched the Dr. Brijmohan Lall Munjal Heroes of Tomorrow Scholarship in partnership with the Andhra Pradesh government to provide full tuition support to meritorious engineering students studying at state IIITs across 28 districts. In another community-focused initiative, Hero MotoCorp will deploy VIDA electric scooters and conduct specialised road safety training for women police personnel in Tirupati to promote sustainable mobility and strengthen public safety.
The investment is expected to have positive implications for eastern India, including Kolkata, one of Hero MotoCorp’s key two-wheeler markets. A stronger manufacturing and logistics network in southern India could improve spare parts availability, reduce delivery timelines and enhance after-sales support for dealerships across eastern states. As electric mobility gains traction in the region, the expansion is also likely to support faster distribution of Hero’s EV products and components, benefiting customers and dealers in Kolkata and neighbouring markets.
