HDFC ERGO Insurance Quiz Junior draws 16,900+ students, Sikkim sees participation from 43 schools

HDFC ERGO General Insurance Company’s 11th edition of the HDFC ERGO Insurance Quiz Junior has attracted more than 16,900 students from around 4,850 schools across over 600 districts in India, with more than 120 students from around 43 schools across 11 cities in Sikkim registering for the 2026 edition.

The flagship initiative, aimed at students of Classes 8 and 9, seeks to promote insurance literacy and financial awareness among young people. Since its launch in 2016, the quiz has expanded from 18 schools in one city to more than 1,100 cities, reaching around three million students over the past decade.

In Sikkim, the participation reflects growing interest in financial awareness programmes among school students and could help strengthen early understanding of insurance and financial preparedness in the local market. With the state’s expanding education and youth-focused initiatives, such programmes can also contribute to building greater financial awareness among future consumers.

Somesh Surana, Joint President-Digital Business Group & Marketing, HDFC ERGO General Insurance Company, said the initiative aims to nurture a generation that is more aware, confident and prepared for life’s uncertainties.

The quiz is being conducted in 10 Indian languages, with 40 schools from vernacular-medium backgrounds participating. Preliminary rounds are underway, with the top 32 teams advancing to virtual zonal rounds. Six teams will compete for the national title at the physical grand finale in Mumbai on September 22.
