Hair Lab, a Godrej company, has launched Smart Black shampoo hair colour, a premium product featuring a patented formulation designed to offer a glove-free hair colouring experience at home.
Launched on November 2, the product uses auto-oxidative hair colour technology and an in-house formulation without peroxide or ammonia. Enriched with gallic acid and aloe vera, it promises 100% grey coverage and natural-looking black colour in 15 minutes. Users can apply it with bare hands without brushes, gloves or mixing bowls, washing their hands with soap within three minutes of contact.
Samir Suryawanshi, business head of Hair Lab, said the innovation aims to remove barriers associated with conventional hair colouring and make the process more convenient. He added that the patented formulation combines advanced hair science with ease of application.
India’s hair colour market is estimated at over ₹7,000 crore, with consumers increasingly seeking convenient at-home colouring solutions. Skin staining and post-application clean-up remain key concerns that the product seeks to address.
In Guwahati, the launch could appeal to consumers seeking convenient personal grooming products through e-commerce and quick-commerce platforms. The growing availability of premium beauty products online may also provide opportunities for brands to expand their reach in the city.
Smart Black is available in an 80 ml multi-use tube priced at ₹229 through leading e-commerce, lifestyle and quick-commerce platforms, including Amazon and Blinkit.
