Groww accounts for 41% of Sikkim’s active investor base

Digital investing is gaining ground in Sikkim, with Groww accounting for 41% of the state’s active investor base on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) as of June 2026, according to data released by the investment platform. The figure means around two in every five active investors in the state invest through Groww.

The development comes amid growing adoption of digital investment platforms across the Northeast, supported by increasing smartphone use, internet penetration and financial awareness. Groww users account for nearly 24% of the NSE investor base of 36.31 lakh across the eight northeastern states. Sikkim recorded the highest share at 41%, followed by Arunachal Pradesh at 40% and Tripura at 37%.

The investor profile in Sikkim also points to strong participation among younger people. Around 23% of Groww investors in the state are below 25 years, while 32% are aged between 25 and 30. Women account for about 31% of the platform’s investor base in the state.

In Gangtok, the growing participation of young and digitally connected investors indicates increasing access to capital-market products beyond traditional financial channels, potentially broadening the local investment ecosystem.

Groww offers mutual funds, stocks, IPOs, trading, commodities, MTF, bonds and wealth management services. It has also expanded advanced trading tools such as option chains, charts and terminal-based trading for active investors.
