Generali Central Life Insurance donates life-support ambulances to strengthen healthcare in Sikkim

Generali Central Life Insurance has donated two fully equipped life-support ambulances to Sir ThutobNamgyal (STNM) Hospital in Gangtok, strengthening emergency healthcare services and improving access to critical medical care across Sikkim, particularly in remote and hilly areas.

The ambulances, equipped with advanced life-support systems, are expected to enhance the hospital’s emergency response capabilities and facilitate faster patient transfers from regions where access to healthcare remains challenging. The initiative is part of the insurer’s efforts to support healthcare infrastructure in the state, where it has served as the lead insurer since 2022.

Speaking on the occasion, Generali Central Life Insurance Managing Director and CEO AlokRungta said the company aims to go beyond insurance by supporting communities during critical moments and improving access to healthcare services.

Sikkim Health Minister G.T. Dhungel welcomed the initiative, saying the addition of the ambulances would strengthen emergency response services and help ensure timely medical attention across the state. MahendraPradhan, Director-Finance and Nodal Officer, Government of Sikkim, said such partnerships would play a key role in achieving the state’s goal of “Insurance for All” by 2027.

The insurer also organised a blood donation camp at STNM Hospital, which witnessed active community participation.

According to the company, it has extended insurance coverage to more than 6,500 lives in Sikkim as of May 31, 2026, while continuing efforts to improve insurance awareness and financial literacy across urban and rural areas through community outreach programmes.
