Bajaj General Insurance Limited has appointed Deepak Reddy as CEO designate, effective January 1, 2027, with the Board of Directors approving his appointment. Subject to approval from the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI), he will take over as Managing Director and CEO from April 1, 2027.
Dr Tapan Singhel will continue to lead the company until March 31, 2027, ensuring a smooth transition. The succession plan aligns with IRDAI’s maximum continuous tenure limit of 15 years for managing directors, CEOs and whole-time directors.
Sanjiv Bajaj, Chairman and Managing Director of Bajaj Finserv, credited Singhel with shaping the insurer through its evolution from a joint venture into a wholly Bajaj-owned company. He said Reddy would build on the company’s foundation and pursue new growth opportunities. Singhel highlighted the insurer’s focus on customer-centric solutions, innovation and expanding insurance access.
Reddy brings over three decades of financial services experience, including a 17-year association with Bajaj Finserv. He has held senior positions at American Express, Standard Chartered Bank and MIRC Electronics, and most recently served as CEO of Manappuram Finance.
In Kolkata, the leadership change comes as insurers seek to expand protection for individuals, households and businesses. Reddy’s experience across financial services could support growth opportunities in eastern India, although the company has not announced any Kolkata-specific plans.
The transition is intended to maintain strategic continuity while positioning Bajaj General Insurance for its next phase of growth.
