Bajaj General Insurance Limited, formerly known as Bajaj Allianz General Insurance Company Limited and a material unlisted subsidiary of Bajaj Finserv Limited, has announced the appointment of Deepak Reddy as CEO designate, effective January 1, 2027. The company’s Board of Directors approved the appointment. Subject to approval from the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI), Reddy will assume charge as Managing Director and CEO on April 1, 2027. Dr Tapan Singhel will continue in the position until March 31, 2027.
The leadership transition is in line with IRDAI’s maximum continuous tenure limit of 15 years for managing directors, CEOs and whole-time directors. Bajaj Finserv Chairman and Managing Director Sanjiv Bajaj acknowledged Singhel’s contribution to building the insurer through its transition from a joint venture to a wholly Bajaj-owned company, citing its underwriting discipline, innovation and customer commitment. Singhel reaffirmed the company’s focus on customer-centric solutions, innovative distribution and improving insurance experiences.
Reddy brings over three decades of financial services experience, including 17 years at Bajaj Finserv. He helped scale several businesses, led rural, insurance and gold loan operations at Bajaj Finance, and served as the Group’s first Head of Human Resources. He most recently served as CEO of Manappuram Finance, after senior roles at American Express, Standard Chartered Bank and MIRC Electronics.
In Guwahati, the leadership change could present opportunities to strengthen insurance awareness, distribution and customer outreach across Assam and the wider Northeast. However, no specific regional initiatives have been announced. The transition aims to preserve strategic continuity and support the insurer’s long-term growth.
