According to a top official in the Union Health Ministry, the new COVID type poses less risk and is unlikely to increase hospitalisations, but people need to be alert.
The top official stated on Monday that “new strains keep appearing after mutation..this is a novel variety which has come..this would not lead to increase in hospitalisations therefore there is low risk associated with it.”
He said that the strain had been isolated in a lab and had been the subject of research.
