Commercial rollout of India’s recombinant vaccine

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati has announced the transfer of key technology for swine fever virus in pigs and wild boars.

According to the sources, this is the first technology for the commercial rollout of India’s recombinant vaccine. Swine fever is a highly contagious disease among pigs, although it doesn’t affect humans.

A statement stated, “This vaccine is being created and produced for the first time in India. The disease poses a significant threat to India’s pig industry, and currently, there is no available vaccine. Transferring the vaccine technology to one of the leaders in the veterinary vaccine sector marks a remarkable achievement.”
