Cognizant has established an OpenAI Frontier Capability Group, bringing together more than 25,000 professionals to help enterprises integrate artificial intelligence (AI) into software development, customer services and business operations.
The group will initially focus on AI-native software engineering using Codex, application modernisation and AI-powered customer operations. The initiative aims to help businesses move beyond AI experimentation towards practical deployment across enterprise systems.
Cognizant said more than 21,000 associates have earned over 40,000 OpenAI badges by completing technology learning programmes. The company is also applying OpenAI-powered solutions within its own sales and customer success operations before extending tested approaches to clients.
“ We are committing more than 25,000 of our people to bring that change inside our clients’ businesses,” said Ravi Kumar S, chief executive officer of Cognizant.
OpenAI Chief Revenue Officer Dali Rajic said the partnership would help enterprises translate AI adoption into meaningful business outcomes.
The company cited an engagement with a global biopharmaceutical firm, where an OpenAI-powered enterprise assistant has handled more than five million conversations and reduced content creation time by 60%. Cognizant also reported that its Codex hackathons in India and the Americas attracted more than 12,000 participants.
In Kolkata, the initiative could create opportunities for businesses seeking AI-led software modernisation, customer support automation and operational efficiency. IT services firms and enterprises in the city may benefit from wider access to AI implementation expertise as demand for enterprise-grade solutions grows.
