Tension prevailed at Sarupeta High School in Assam’s Bajali district after a Class X student was allegedly assaulted by the school’s headmaster, leading to the student being admitted to hospital.
According to local sources, the student, identified as Ratul Rajbongshi from Kolbari village, sustained injuries in the alleged incident and was subsequently taken for medical treatment. The exact circumstances surrounding the incident have not yet been officially disclosed.
The incident sparked outrage among the student’s family members and local residents, who gathered at the school premises and demanded an explanation from headmaster Sanjiv Kumar Talukdar. They also called for accountability and appropriate action against those responsible.
Local residents alleged that complaints regarding the physical punishment of students had previously been raised against the headmaster. However, no official confirmation regarding such allegations was available immediately.
Sources said Talukdar joined Sarupeta High School around two months ago.
