Eminent poet and Jnanpith awardee Padma Shri Neelmani Phookan died of heart attack at GMCH. The Chief Minister of Assam could not attend the funeral as he was in New Delhi following the schedule. NRC declared for a Assam man after 5 years

Assam Government to merge small madrasas with large one to reduce radicalism threat

The threat of radicalization from madrassas in Assam has become a major issue. Henceforth, to reduce the threat, the Assam government decided to merge the small madrasas with the big madrasas. New rule implemented for state’s senior most bureaucrats that they must take CM’S permission for leave set by Assam government. Rhino found, cheers to wildlife

On Wednesday, forest officials said that one-horned rhino was spotted in the area of Pava Reserve Forest in Lakhimpur district of Assam. Officials also informed that after 90 per cent encroachment of the forest the rhino was spotted, bringing cheers to the wildlife protectors. Assam records lowest criminal cases

DGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahant said that criminal activities have reduced in Assam in the last year. Earlier, criminal activity rate was 366 per lakh of the population which has now decreased to 200 cases per lakh of the population due to the strict actions taken by the police. Assam to increase sales for three-wheeler electric cars

Meghalaya Election to begin soon

On Friday, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajiv Kumar announced that people of Meghalaya living in disputed area of Assam can vote for Meghalaya election. “People living in villages along the disputed border can participate in the elections despite what has happened.
